Racial Reconciliation
Our Goal for Reconciliation: Intercultural Competency
- To celebrate differences and foster the ability to better flow between cultures, communicating Christ’s love clearly with all people
- To recognize and discern differences in culture
- To appreciate and embrace differences in culture
What are we doing to achieve intercultural competency?
INVITATION TO RACIAL RIGHTEOUSNESS (1-2 times per year)
This is an experience that will challenge participants to move beyond language and knowledge of racial righteousness to a deeper place of personal awareness, responsibility, healing and action.
Striving toward the Kingdom vision reflected in Revelation 7:9, The Invitation to Racial Righteousness will help participants:
- Engage in relationship and community building activities to move toward true community across ethnic and racial lines;
- Explore racial and ethnic injustices that exist in our society;
- Identify action steps for change, both personally and as a community.

TALKSHOPS
The Sanctuary Community Talkshops are the place where we tell our stories.
Your story unites with my story. Our stories combine with others’ stories. Our combined stories give us a more complete picture of HIS-story… God’s redeeming and grace-filled story from creation to present to future. This is an open circle dialogue.
Meet with others to discuss life. How can our different individual experiences of life enrich and challenge others and bring about social change?
Check out the Events Calendar to find out if there is a Talkshop coming up.
MOVIE NIGHTS
Many powerful stories are put into movie form. We use these to spark dialogue about organic, programmatic and systemic injustices. Using dialogue about injustice to help spark conversation about what can be done to combat these injustices on each level is both an effective healing strategy as well as outreach strategy.
Check out the Events Calendar to find out if there is a Reconciliation Movie Night coming up.
SANKOFA
A West African word meaning loosely “Looking backward to move forward,” the Sankofa journey, is an intentional, cross-racial prayer journey, seeking to assist disciples of Christ on their move towards a righteous response to the social ills related to racism. The next Sankofa Journey is August 6-8, 2009.

MN MOSAIC
Journey to Mosaic is a multicultural ministry experience of the regional conferences of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The Journey to Mosaic Minnesota will help contextualize the Sankofa concept as we explore the historical and present-day injustices related to the ethnic communities in Minnesota.
Join The Sanctuary for an amazing trip of exploration, discovery, personal and community growth this upcoming summer.
