Project 6:8
“He has showed you. O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8
What is it all about?
Project 6:8 focuses on homelessness in Minneapolis. We reach out to homeless Minnesotans and try to meet some of their basic physical and spiritual needs.
Meeting physical needs by
- sharing a meal
- bringing them various necessities like warm coats and sleeping bags
- Providing toiletries.
Meeting their spiritual needs, as well as our own, by simply giving back the love God has shown us.
We realize that while their circumstances may be different from ours, we are all God’s precious creation, and therefore are building relationships with the individuals that we come in contact with during the project. We do this in a way that tries to embrace all believers, regardless of what church they may come from.
We’re always looking for motivated volunteers
Bring your teams
Project 6:8 can accomodate teams of 6-12 people, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and some Saturday nights.
Expectations of Participants
Volunteers will be expected to communicate with a Project 6:8 leader beforehand to schedule a date. They will also be expected to pray in anticipation of their being a part of the project. Volunteer groups are also required to bring a meal with them that is enough to feed 25 people (homeless people we minister to as well as volunteers). Transportation is not provided, and the time expectation is two hours, usually between 7 and 9 pm.
Participation
As a participant of Project 6:8, there are various activities that you may be a part of. Some of the activities may include being in charge of the food table, organizing and passing out donated items, and clean-up duty. While doing all of these activities our main purpose and goal is always to interact with the homeless people we come in contact with and to show them God’s love. Everything else is secondary!
If this sounds like a good fit for your group, please contact us to inquire about bringing your team.
