The Kingdom of God is essentially about “community” – a community uniting people with God and with one another.
Life in Membership at The Sanctuary is essentially about participating in the community of God – a place to belong. Membership is the continual process of becoming a vital organ in a living body, the living body of Christ.
The purpose, core values, and vision of this church can only be fulfilled by a multiethnic and Christ-centered community laboring together to advance God’s kingdom in the city and beyond. If you're interested in joining with us in membership, or even just exploring the idea further, we invite you to join us our class, "Membership Matters." It's also a great place to start getting connected to others in the church.

We'll journey through a deeper knowledge of the the meaning of covenant membership at the Sanctuary. At the end of the class, we simply ask you if you want to join us in this journey.
Our Story
How The Sanctuary came to be…
SuperBowl Sunday, 2003, Efrem & Donecia Smith gathered a few dozen people in a basement for a SuperBowl Party and began sharing a vision of bringing hope, justice, and movement of a reconciliation in the heart of North Minneapolis. Together, they ate shared meals, shared each other's stories and the Sanctuary began to grow rapidly.
Over the years, many things have changed. And, many things have stayed the same. We're still driven by God's love to grow a movement of reconciliation starting in north minneapolis and moving beyond.
Currently, we meet for our Sunday worship experience at 10am at Anwatin Middle School and we're constantly working to provide opportunities to get people connected and to help you make your next move on your life journey with God.

We are:
- Biblical We believe the Bible is at the core of who we are and leads us in what we do.
