Jeremy Scheller

Title: Communications and Design Coordinator
What does that mean? Jeremy gets his hands involved in anything visual or technological at Sanctuary. Communicating for and undergirding ministries with technology resources.

Jeremy is a foodie, an Apple fan, and a lover of all things tech. He also thinks that the church scores a win when we keep pace or move faster than the larger culture. It’s all about helping people make a move with Jesus. That’s all. Jeremy blogs over at jeremyscheller.com when he’s not trying to launch websites, designing logos and spending time with his beautiful wife Sarah and two boys Elliot and Levi.

Q & A with Jeremy

Q: Your biggest challenge?
Releasing Control.

Q: What is your definition of a retreat?
Sitting in my favorite chair at the cabin with a good book and no noise except maybe some Jack Johnson or Ben Harper playing on the ipod.

Q: Who has been a mentor to you?
So many. My wife has been my greatest teacher. She takes the rough emotionless side of me and makes me more human. She always has. I also constantly seek out people who are smarter than me, more talented than me, or just have a different leadership perspective than I do. There are too many to name, and I don’t want to play favorites on the internets!

Q: What’s a typical day on the job?
An iced vanilla latte, some email, some writing, some website work, some designing, some meetings, some social networking, spin, dry, repeat.

Q: Where did you grow up?
Maple Grove, MN

Q: Your greatest indulgence?
Bacon. Bacon crumbled. Bacon sizzled. Bacon Wrapped. Bacon injected. Bacon with bacon on top.

Q: What’s your favorite snack?
Have I mentioned bacon?

Q: What’s your favorite movie?
When I was little, I used to alternate between “The Goonies” and the classic 80’s BMX movie “Rad.” Can’t name just one, but I love “Dead Poet’s Society,” “Braveheart,” and “Slumdog Millionaire.”

Q: What’s your favorite TV show?
Amazing Race and Iron Chef America.

Q: What impact has the Sanctuary Community had on your life?
Since joining Sanctuary, I’ve found new friends, new purpose, and a deeper understanding of the picture of the church that God has for his people.

Q: Your most memorable experience?
One of my most memorable experiences was being a Junior Globetrotter when I was in the 3rd grade. I sent a postcard in to a TV station and got picked. Hung out with them in the locker room (not an appropriate place by any means) and did a bunch of tricks on the court during the half-time show.

Q: What do you hope for?
I hope for real change in our world where our first thought is to take care of our community, not just go after personal gain.
