Efrem Smith is a storyteller, a preacher, and a teacher. A guy with a passion to see people find reconciliation in their relationships with each other and in their life’s journey with God. He loves Hip Hop, the theology of Howard Thurman and when his wife Donecia buys him Playstation games. He as two daughters Jaeda and Mireya. Efrem graduated from St. John’s University and Luther Theological Seminary. He blogs over at efremsmith.com.

Q: What’s your favorite season, and why?
My favorite season is fall because I love the colors and football season
Q: Who do you most admire?
I most admire Dr. John Perkins
Q: When did you first come to Sanctuary?
I’ve been at Sanctuary since the beginning and I mean the beginning!
Q: What is your definition of a retreat?
My definition of a retreat includes being alone with God, some jazz, and a book from Howard Thurman.
Q: Who has been a mentor to you?
Dave Olsen, the Executive Minister of Church Growth and Evangelism in the Evangelical Covenant Church has been a significant mentor to me the past couple of years.
Q: What was your childhood ambition?
My childhood ambition was to be a TV actor.
Q: Your greatest indulgence?
My greatest indulgence is peach cobbler and sweet potato pie.
Q: Your most memorable experience?
My most memorable experience is standing next to Colin Powell.
Q: What do you hope for?
I hope for the multicultural church to be the norm of the church in the United States of America.
